Goal Setting

Figure skating is balance. Balance of body on the ice... Balance of daily life off the ice. Achieving balance is an exercise in living... The foundation to a life well lived. This concept is central Suzanne's teachings. Her goal is to introduce her students to new ways of moving in the world not just on the ice.

Goal setting is central to all of Suzanne's teachings. She works with each skater to develop realistic and achievable goals. Students learn how to prioritize and develop a plan for success. A well prepared plan leads to poise and confidence under pressure. Suzanne believes that true success is when her students unlock these secrets and they carry through to all aspects of their lives.

Competitions can provide tangible yardsticks to measure a skater's progress. The process of preparing for a competition is a valuable exercise. It can require hard work, discipline and dedication. Suzanne fully supports all her students that choose to compete. The success is in the doing... not in medals won. From that philosophy, Suzanne draws from her recent successful skating career to inspire her skaters to reach for new heights. Practices are exercises in self-discovery. When the day of the competition arrives, all that remains to do is celebrate the performance. The theme for the day is "trying to win rarely results in skating well, but skating well oftern results in winning".
