Suzanne Laki coaches figure skaters of all ages and levels in northern New Jersey. Her home rink is the Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown, New Jersey. She has numerous students both recreational and competitive. Her competitive skaters attend both USFSA and ISI events and they have an impressive track record of accomplishments.
For the beginning skater, Suzanne offers an encouraging style that compliments her proven learn-to-skate techniques. Her aim is to keep lessons fun and upbeat.
As her students progress, Suzanne works to develop the relationship of their performance on ice to their physical and emotional development off the ice. Her techniques boost confidence and improve overall self esteem. Freestyle students are schooled using the latest techniques in jumps, spins, and choreography. In addition, Suzanne stresses the disciplines and techniques required of "moves-in-the-field" testing.
Suzanne recently joined the Precisely Right Synchronized Skating Team's coaching staff. She is working with the Preliminary, Juvenile and Open Juvenile teams both on and off the ice. Her 8 years of "Synchro" experience has helped lead the Preliminary team to the 2008 U.S. Eastern Sectional Championship.
Suzanne has a BA in physical education. She is aware of the bio-mechanical demands that young figure skaters encounter. She offers strength and conditioning classes to ensure that the unique stresses of figure skating don't unnecessarily lead to chronic injury.
